The Process:

Washed processing involves de-pulping the coffee cherry. A bladed tool is used to cut open the cherries, extract the seeds and discard the empty fruit. The coffee is then soaked in water to soften the seed and typically is left to ferment for 12 to 72 hours. Afterwards the coffee is washed clean of any remaining fruit, mucilage and silverskin before it’s finally dried. Washed coffees are the most common processed coffees you’ll see!

About Indonesian coffee:

Indonesia is well known for its diverse and rich coffee production, deeply rooted in tradition and unique regional methods. As a nation, it is the fourth-largest producer of coffee in the word, with major regions including Sumatra, Java, and Sulawesi. While much of that volume is Robusta, high-grown Arabica is well regarded among specialty coffee roasters. Smallholder farmers often hand-pick coffee cherries and sun-dry them on woven mats. These practices, combined with the country’s varied microclimates, make Indonesian coffee distinctive.

Why we're stoked!

This coffee evokes the sensation of spending time in your garden, taking a tender moment to "touch grass." With the sun beating down on you in the most pleasant way possible, you gingerly work, picking fresh vegetables and flowers as you work your way down your garden bed. The green leaves, lightly damp soil, and delicate petals warm your soul and finally allow you to breathe a sigh of relief. This coffee encompasses all of this and more, so be sure to try it before it's gone.
